As I recall, his answer was along the lines of "because I'm straight" (or, rather, that he liked to start with a mouth repurposed from a photograph, and he found women's mouths more appealing, ahem).

I don't know that anyone took issue with that, but it has been asked, and by one of his friends no less. Will Brandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12518583546139204411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4865764596112100655.post-11593077686672188672012-04-09T21:29:32.563-04:002012-04-09T21:29:32.563-04:00Yes, I was surprised with his patience in dealing ...Yes, I was surprised with his patience in dealing with the interviewer. He was remarkably forthcoming and candid. Wiley gave a fairly thorough description of his "process" in an interview which I read with interest because I am also a painter who uses photographs for source material. There's nothing unusual about it, but it smacks of the same defensiveness I often feel when people ask me "But, you don't use photographs, do you?" as if this somehow de-legitimizes my endeavor.LXVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18396149640519096992noreply@blogger.com
